Mulberry Madness kicks off with poetry, tree giveaways and mulberry products June 20

Celebrate mulberries at the annual Mulberry Madness festival Saturday June 20.

In addition to celebrating the mulberry, the event features a poetry contest for students, native fruit tree giveaways and delicious products using mulberries.

Local businesses are developing unique offerings this year. Gertrude’s restaurant is creating a special mulberry treat. Baltimore Spirit has pitched in with Singularity, a cocktail mix of locally foraged mulberries. Atwater’s is making mulberry jam. Samples of all will be available at the market. Bottles of Singularity are ready for purchase.

In case you are curious about the many uses of mulberries, Baltimore Orchard Project is offering limited copies of a recipe booklet highlighting the use of mulberries in muffins and cobblers, among other things.
